Trek the Lake District – South Lake Area of Cumbria May 14 – 22, 2016

The Lake District is England's most fabulous region.  It has the highest mountain (Scafell Pike), the  deepest lakes (Windermere and Wast Water) and the most breadth of scenery in such a small area of England.  Lake District National Park was established in 1951 and covers 885 square miles, which is half a million acres.

Our Inn to Inn hikes will visit three remarkable villages of the Lake District; Windermere, Grasmere, and Coniston.  We start our trip by arriving in Manchester England and taking a train to Windermere.

From there, we start our trek as we hike the most visited and most scenic area of England .  Taxis can take your luggage to the next destination hotel, if you don't want to carry everything on your back.  We will be staying in comfortable hotels each night and eating at British pubs!  There are a two free days, one in Grasmere and one in Coniston  for you to visit the villages and enjoy some of the tourist activities or hike mountains in the area.

Each leg of the Inn-to-Inn hikes are about 10-12 miles each.  The legs include Windermere to Grasmere, Grasmere to Coniston and Coniston to Windermere.  We will be hiking trails and do our best to stay off paved sidewalks, however, we may cover a bit of pavement too.  June starts the busy season, so we are a bit before the high travel season, but not by very much.  Trails are not all flat and the trip is considered moderate as long as you are able to hike 5 or 6 hours a day.

This is such a popular spot in England, so please sign up soon.  Airfare to Manchester can be a bit pricey, so please sign up so you can make your reservations.

Come join me on this wonderful and beautiful trekking adventure!

Planned Vacations, What a Concept !

Sure, there are maps and tour guides and the Chamber of Commerce, but wouldn't it be nice if we had trips already planned and we knew what we wanted to do at those locations by others recommendations. I have been leading vacation trips with OutsideNE and the Appalachian Mountain Club for over ten years.

Hope you are able to go on one of these trips and add some information! Happy Vacations and Weekends!
